What Will Happen At My First Psychotherapy Appointment?

You will be welcomed and invited to sit down. You may choose to sit on an armchair across from me or you may choose to sit/lie on the couch at an angle to my chair. There are three ways we can start; You can ask anything you want about the way I work so you can get a better understand of what to expect, you can tell me about yourself and why you've come to therapy or we can start with a bit of both.

What Is The Cost Per Session?

Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration and cost €80.00 per session.  Payment is made at the beginning of each session by either cash or bank transfer.  Receipts are provided on request.   Credit/Debit Card payments are not available at this time.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

My cancellation policy requires 24 hour notice of cancelled or re-scheduled appointments (this is to assist with the administration of filling your appointment slot). If I am unable to fill your appointment with less than 24 hours notice, you will thenbe responsible for payment of the full session fee.

What Is Your Policy On Confidentiality?

Your information is kept in strictest confidence.  No information may be released to anyone without your written permission and you can withdraw this permission at any time.  There are, however, some exceptions to this rule:

  • If I am made aware that a child is at risk of abuse or neglect;
  • If there is reason to believe that you are in danger of harming yourself or someone else;
  • Finally, if you are in litigation, I may have to comply with an order of the Court. 

How Do I Make An Appointment?

To make an appointment you can contact me directly (no referral is required) by filling out the form on the contact page here. I am usually able to respond within a couple of hours.

How Frequently Will I Have To Attend?

The average is weekly, yet some people attend more frequently than that. The question of frequency will be discussed at your initial consultation and will be based on your unique circumstances. It’s a collaborative consideration, rather than prescriptive. T

How Long Will I Need to Come For?

The answer to this question differs for each person. Once I have a sense of your specific concerns and goals, and the approach which is the right fit for you, I will be in a better position to find an answer that speaks directly to you.

Will My Insurance Cover Clinical Psychotherapy?

Please consult with your medical insurance provider to confirm that Clinical Psychotherapy is an eligible benefit on your plan.  I will provide receipts and any other necessary paperwork to aid your reimbursement.

Are You Taking New Referrals?

Yes; I have limited space available for day appointments and a waiting list for evening appointments, please note; I am happy to facilitate you as best I can and can arrange to see you early mornings if necessary.

Do You Offer SKYPE/Telephone Sessions?

Yes; I offer this service to clients who want the benefits of psychotherapy but find scheduling difficult, or who prefer to have a session from the comfort of their own home or office. I’ll be pleased to discuss your case and determine if this is possible and appropriate.
